Wireless Connection Downtown -- It's Free For
YOU
Get free wireless internet supplied by the county. To login
to the Buncombe county free wireless, setup your laptop in
area comfortable to you downtown. Use it on a park
bench, from your car, or wherever is comfortable.
The Buncombe County Commissioners are proud to announce
wireless access to the internet is available to you at no
cost. Buncombe County Government is now one of the few
governments in North Carolina to offer free internet access.
The access is available in the central business district of
downtown covering Pack Square, City-County Plaza, College
St, Patton Ave, Haywood and Market Streets, and the area
around the Grove Arcade. Just look for the SSID:
BuncombeFreeWifi in your wireless network connection list.
It is a goal of the Buncombe County Commissioners to offer
the finest technical opportunties to the citizens of this
county. On behalf of the Buncombe County Government, we hope
you enjoy the new wireless access to the internet.

How to
Connect to a Wireless Connection:
Look in your taskbar for an icon like this :

Double click it, then look for a connection
named "BuncombeFreeWiFi" or is sometimes just named
"wireless". Lots of networks may use the default name
wireless but may not be the Buncombe Free WiFi. Click the
correct one and click connect, and then open a browser which
will direct you to a page to login to use the Buncombe WiFi.
After logging in, you'll have your free highspeed internet
connection, covering most of downtown!
